This is the North Canonry, in The Close & opposite the cathedral, almost next door to where Sir Edward Heath lived at Arundell’s. On occasion, T & I visited an elderly friend in the North Canonry. On one of these occasions, an English lady also visiting told me a story of flying Aeroflot within Russia. Frequent flyers sometimes exchange stories of carriers, some of them horror stories. This is my only conversation with someone who has flown Russia’s national airline, and their story is now at the top of the list.

A supportive audience, including the DGM office. Constant flashes were an irritant, although these were directed towards the cathedral.

Lunch in the Cathedral restaurant afterwards, and then to Chiswick. I am in London to meet pal Greg & cheer loudly for Tool.

23.06  A tube to Hammersmith for coffee with Greg, former KC FOH sound guy & currently Tool’s production manager. Into the theatre… my seat was in the balcony.

This is the best rock show I’ve seen since The Clash 1978 in NYC. The security was good, but despite the requests for no cameras, ‘phone cameras, recording, viddying, & smoking, all of these were constants. The security was dealing with audients not only 20 years younger than me, but 40 years younger than me. This is the only band that has, recently, made me want to put on my guitar & rock out. But, at what a price. Such a good performance by Tool, and so much not what I want to do with my performing life right now. Much recent thinking has been accelerated by this evening.

Tool do Tool better than Crimson do Crimson.
